Reversal of Chronic Rhinosinusitis-Associated Sinonasal Ciliary Dysfunction

This study examines reversible ciliary dysfunction in chronic rhinosinusitis patients, finding blunted responses to cholinergic, adrenergic, and purinergic stimulation in sinonasal tissue. Ex vivo culture experiments suggest CRS-associated ciliary impairment may be caused by local inflammatory mediators rather than inherent genetic defects, as most samples recovered normal stimulatory responses over time.
