Telemedicine also known as telepractice is defined by the Federation of State Medical Boards as “the practice of medicine using electronic communication, information technology, or other means between a physician in one location, and a patient in another location, with or without an intervening health care provider.”
Even though we can see that telehealth and telemedicine terms can be used interchangeably, telehealth is different.
Telehealth refers broadly to electronic and telecommunications technologies and services including the internet, video conferencing, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and wireless communications used to provide care and services at-a-distance.

Today, we're talking about telehealth versus telemedicine. Telemedicine, also known as telepractice, is defined by the Federation of State Medical Boards as: "The practice of medicine using electronic communication, information technology, or other means between a physician in one location and a patient in another location, with or without an intervening healthcare provider". Even though we can see that telehealth and telemedicine terms can be used interchangeably, telehealth is different. Telehealth refers broadly to electronic and telecommunication technologies and services, including the internet, video conferencing, store and forward imaging, streaming media, and wireless communications used to provide care and services at a distance. For example, telemedicine includes conducting diagnostic tests, closely monitoring a patient's progress after treatment or therapy, and facilitating access to specialists that are not located in the same place as the patient. On the other hand, telehealth includes a wider variety of remote healthcare services beyond the doctor-patient relationship. While telemedicine refers specifically to remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non-clinical services like administrative meetings, medical education, and provider training. In short, all telemedicine is telehealth, but not all telehealth is telemedicine. There are three main categories of telemedicine, telementoring, teleconsultation, and telemonitoring.
