Serum MMP-7 in the Diagnosis of Biliary Atresia.

Large validation study (n=288) demonstrates serum MMP-7 achieves 95% sensitivity and 93% specificity for distinguishing biliary atresia from other causes of neonatal cholestasis at 10.37 ng/mL cutoff. MMP-7 correlates with liver fibrosis stage and shows promise as both diagnostic tool and potential therapeutic target.
