Non-operative management of extralobar pulmonary sequestration: a safe alternative to resection?

This retrospective study of 47 pediatric patients demonstrates that non-operative management of extralobar pulmonary sequestration appears safe, with 88% of lesions decreasing in size over median 3.2-year follow-up and no ELS-attributable symptoms. Findings challenge routine resection protocols for asymptomatic ELS.
