Partially Hydrolyzed Guar Gum Alleviates Small Intestinal Mucosal Damage after Massive Small Bowel Resection along with Changes in the Intestinal Microbiota

This rat model study demonstrates that partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG) supplementation reduces small intestinal mucosal damage and inflammation following massive bowel resection. PHGG administration increased beneficial Lachnospiraceae bacteria, suggesting microbiota modulation as a mechanism for intestinal protection in short bowel syndrome.
