C23, an oligopeptide derived from cold-inducible RNA-binding protein, suppresses inflammation and reduces lung injury in neonatal sepsis

This preclinical study demonstrates that C23, a peptide inhibitor of cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP), significantly reduces systemic inflammation and lung injury in a neonatal mouse sepsis model. Treatment with C23 decreased proinflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-1β by up to 78% and reduced histologic lung injury scores, suggesting potential therapeutic application in neonatal sepsis management.
