Anisotropic and nonlinear biaxial mechanical response of porcine small bowel mesentery

This study characterizes the mechanical properties of porcine small bowel mesentery to better understand intestinal malrotation and midgut volvulus risk in pediatric patients. Findings on tissue anisotropy and nonlinear behavior may inform surgical decision-making for asymptomatic patients at risk of life-threatening bowel ischemia.
