Prevalence of Biofilm-forming Bacteria in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

This study examined biofilm formation in 157 CRS patients, finding 28.6% harbored biofilm-forming bacteria. Patients with prior sinus surgery showed significantly higher biofilm prevalence (30.7%), with rates correlating to number of previous procedures. Most biofilm cultures were polymicrobial or contained P. aeruginosa and S. aureus.
