From Trash to Treasure: Launching a Medical Device Reprocessing Program
Abstract
Rapid evolution of healthcare over the past two decades has been accompanied by a substantial increase in the utilization of single-use medical devices. While single-use devices have contributed to advancements in patient care, they have also given rise to a significant generation of medical waste and contribute substantially to the carbon footprint of healthcare facilities [1]. The need for innovative and sustainable practices in the healthcare sector has never been more pronounced, prompting the exploration of alternative strategies to manage the environmental implications of medical waste [2].
