Reply to Letter to the Editor Regarding: Pediatric Firearm Trauma on the Rise
Abstract
We are grateful for this interest in our work by Daungsupawong and Wiwanitkit and wholeheartedly agree with the commentary. A better understanding of all aspects of firearm violence is necessary to design effective strategies for its elimination, including details about whether the firearm discharge was accidental or intentional. Unfortunately, due to this study's retrospective design, our database did not include “details regarding the particular circumstances of each FRI incidence” because such law enforcement and judicial records are difficult for a healthcare organization to readily acquire.
