Hi, I'm Ellen at Cisco Cincinnati Children's, and here's an article you should know about. The authors here wanted to take a look at preventative fundoplication for patients undergoing repair for congenital diaphragmatic hernia. They did a prospective multi-institutional cohort study using the French CDH registry between 2010 and 2018. First, they looked at practice variability and found that only 31% of centers considered preventative fundoplication. Then they looked at predictive factors for performing preventative or curative fundoplication. And one of the main findings here is that patients with patch repair had increased rates of both. Finally, they looked at outcomes and found that patients who underwent preventative fundoplication with patch CDH repair actually had worse gastrointestinal outcomes. Take a look at the article in the link and let us know what you think.
