In the October 2019 issue of JPS, Jong at all reported the results of a large observational cohort study including almost 1700 children operated for inguinal hernia. Both laparoscopic and open approaches were found to have comparable results. The authors also proposed the use of laparoscopy to visualize the contralateral side, which resulted in a lower rate of metachronous contralateral repairs.
