In brief
In brief
This study demonstrates that piezoelectric nanofiber scaffolds accelerate human intestinal organoid formation from pluripotent stem cells by 3 days and enable ultrasound-mediated electrical stimulation to enhance cellular proliferation. The biocompatible material supports normal intestinal patterning and transplantation, establishing a novel platform for controlled organoid manipulation in developmental and translational research.

Statements in this article
Exposure to biocompatible piezoelectric nanofibers promoted spheroid morphology 3 days sooner than conventional methodology.
At day 28 of culture, human intestinal organoids grown on piezoelectric scaffolds appeared similar to those grown conventionally.
Human intestinal organoids grown on piezoelectric nanofiber scaffolds were readily transplantable and developed well-organized laminated structures.
Graft sizes between organoids grown on piezoelectric scaffolds and conventional methods were similar.
Piezoelectric nanofibers showed no detrimental effects on intestinal patterning or maturation.
Human intestinal organoids matured on nanofiber scaffolds and treated with ultrasound showed increased cellular proliferation.
