Integrating Sustainable Global Engagement Into Your Academic Pediatric Surgical Practice
Abstract
Pediatric surgeons and pediatric surgical societies are increasingly engaging in global surgery [1]. This article describes the panel “Integrating Sustainable Global Engagement into Your Academic Pediatric Surgical Practice” which was presented by the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) Global Surgery Committee at the APSA 2023 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. The session leaders acknowledged a wide range of ways to engage in global surgery including mission-based, short-term volunteer opportunities, humanitarian, and military [1,2].
