Letter to the Editor in Response to: Comparison of Postoperative Antibiotic Protocols for Pediatric Complicated Appendicitis: A Western Pediatric Surgery Research Consortium Study
Abstract
We read with great interest the paper, “Comparison of Postoperative Antibiotic Protocols for Pediatric Complicated Appendicitis: A Western Pediatric Surgery Research Consortium Study” [1]. The high-fidelity data offered by NSQIP-P has helped answer longstanding questions about the management of appendicitis. However, because of diverse institutional policies, it is difficult to draw conclusions from NSQIP-P data alone. The collaborative approach of multi-center consortiums like the WPSRC thus provides essential analytic granularity and specificity.
