Speaker: Watch the introductions from moderators: Drs. Todd Ponsky, Dan von Allmen, and Meera Kotagal at the 2025 Best of the Best in Pediatric Surgery event!
Good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening. Welcome to Best of the Best 2025. We love this event because uh it's the only time we can bring together all the incredible presentations that go on around the world that most of us miss because we can't make it to every conference. So this is the way to see what we missed and uh explore the, the best stuff around the world. Um, and this year, we have our, uh, our co-host. So I'm Todd Ponsky from Cincinnati Children's, Dan von Almen from Cincinnati Children's. And I'm Mira Kotdeal also from Cincinnati Children's. Uh, we're incredibly excited. We have some discussions as well that will be coming on later to go over the, the papers. Uh, let me first by saying, say this, um. What you, there are thousands of pediatric surgeries papers presented every year, and these are the top 18. This tells you that anyone that is here today, uh, should be pretty, uh, proud of them, proud of themselves. The organization should be proud that these are the top of, of thousands of presentations. So, uh, we're incredibly excited that everyone's here. To make it fun, we make it a bit of a, uh, a fake sort of contest to make it fun, but the truth is, Uh, they're all, these are the top 18. Uh, and this is just a way to present it in a fun way, but we do make it into a fun contest. Uh, so, the way we do this is, um, we do heats. So, uh, we put two societies against each other for, to make it, uh, uh, a, a contest, and it's YUSA and BAPS first. Then it's paps and caps, and then um IPSO, uh, and then uh ABSA, AAP and IPEG. And we will narrow down the, after each heat, the one that gets the, the most votes. Uh, and then there's a final heat to see who is the best of the best of 2025. As I said, it's uh kind of funny because, uh, the truth is, these are all equally as good. All right. So, uh, the way the format is gonna go is we'll play the presentation, we'll have 2 minutes for discussion, and we'll go on to the next presentation, and then we'll vote at the end. So, uh, here we go. And then if there's any technical difficulties, just, you know, restart your browser. Usually, that fixes it. Uh, streaming can be different depending on your bandwidth, uh, and everything's recorded. So don't worry, uh, if you miss any of it, we'll get it to you. So, Uh, yeah, and put your questions in the chat, and we will work to, uh, try to answer all those questions even if it's later on after the, after the show, we'll get to your questions. That's a great point, and we're thinking about that, so we'll try to read them if there's time, um, and if not, the, um, presenter can go in and chat or we'll send, we'll, we'll email, um, an answer later.
