Minimizing Risks of Appendectomy

Topic overview

We congratulate Doshi and colleagues on a thorough systematic review of the risk of adhesive bowel obstruction after appendectomy [1]. The authors call for further research to identify the optimal management approach for complicated appendicitis and advocate for a considered approach when evaluating methodologies to reduce negative appendectomy rates. We agree with these recommendations and would also recommend a considered evaluation for all appendicitis cases.
