Reliability of the Hirschsprung-Associated Enterocolitis Score in Clinical Practice

Retrospective validation study of the Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis (HAEC) scoring system in 50 episodes across 21 patients. Findings suggest the original 10-point diagnostic threshold is too restrictive, missing half of clinically significant cases, while a 4-point cut-off captures 98% of episodes and correlates with disease severity and hospital length-of-stay.
