Prevalence and Predictive Factors of Histopathological Complications in Children with Esophageal Atresia

Prospective study of 77 children post-EA-TEF repair found histopathological complications in 52%, including peptic esophagitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, and gastric metaplasia, despite acid suppression therapy. Recurrent anastomotic strictures significantly increased complication risk, emphasizing need for systematic long-term endoscopic surveillance.
