Development and assessment of a loop ligation simulator for laparoscopic appendectomy

This study describes development of an affordable simulator for teaching loop ligation technique in laparoscopic appendectomy, using the Peyton instructional approach. Testing on 20 surgical novices demonstrated significant skill acquisition, with all participants improving task completion during structured learning.
