Use of pedicled flaps after oncologic resections in pediatric patients
Topic overview
This retrospective study examines outcomes of pedicled flap reconstruction in 13 pediatric oncology patients following tumor resection, primarily for Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma. Multiple flap types achieved immediate wound closure with low complication rates, allowing timely resumption of chemotherapy and demonstrating effectiveness for large defect coverage in pediatric limb-salvage procedures.
