Five-year native liver survival analysis in biliary atresia from a single large Chinese center: The death/liver transplantation hazard change and the importance of rapid early clearance of jaundice

Five-year analysis of 139 biliary atresia patients after Kasai procedure shows 58% native liver survival, with highest death/transplant risk in the first year. Rapid jaundice clearance within 4 weeks post-surgery emerged as the strongest predictor of 5-year survival, with successful cases showing biochemical normalization by 1 year.
