Treatment of First-Time Perianal Abscess in Childhood, Balance Recurrence and Fistula Formation Rate with Medical Intervention

Retrospective study of 697 pediatric patients comparing conservative treatment versus incision and drainage for first-time perianal abscess. Conservative management showed significantly lower recurrence and fistula formation rates (12.7%) compared to surgical intervention (24.6%), suggesting delayed surgical approach may optimize outcomes in select cases.
