Pediatric Short Bowel Syndrome: Predicting Four-Year Outcome after Massive Neonatal Resection

Retrospective study of 47 neonatal short bowel syndrome patients shows 91.5% survival at 48 months, with enteral autonomy strongly correlated to residual small bowel length. Conservative surgical approach is critical, as even small amounts of preserved intestinal length significantly impact weaning from parenteral nutrition and long-term outcomes.
