This article defines complex gastroschisis—cases with intestinal atresia, necrosis, perforation, or volvulus—and reviews surgical management strategies and timing of interventions. It addresses the lack of consensus in treatment approaches and examines contemporary outcomes for this high-risk subset of gastroschisis patients.
