Adolescent experiences of the safe surgical checklist and surgical care processes

This qualitative study of 10 adolescent surgical patients (ages 13-17) identifies four key themes in their perioperative experience: desire for autonomy in consent processes, appreciation for repetitive safety checks, need for caregiver involvement in decisions, and preference for direct post-operative communication rather than information filtered through parents.
