Investigation of VGLL3 and sub-target genes in the aetiology of paediatric acute appendicitis: a prospective case–control study

This prospective case-control study of 250 pediatric appendicitis patients identified a protective association between VGLL3 rs13074432 polymorphism and acute appendicitis risk. The TT genotype and T allele showed significantly lower frequency in patients versus controls, suggesting VGLL3 and its sub-target genes play a role in appendicitis pathogenesis.
