A pilot study of multi-modal pain management for same-day discharge after minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum (Nuss procedure) in children

This pilot study demonstrates that combining bilateral single-shot paravertebral blocks with bilateral intercostal nerve cryoablation enables same-day discharge in 65% of pediatric Nuss procedure patients, with significantly reduced hospital stay (4.4 days to 0.7 days) and lower opioid requirements compared to traditional pain management approaches.
