Should we reduce routine surveillance imaging in pediatric germ cell tumors?

This retrospective study of the TCGM-AIEOP-2004 cohort demonstrates that serum tumor markers detected over 70% of relapses in pediatric malignant germ cell tumors, rising to over 90% in specific subgroups. The findings support reducing routine surveillance imaging in selected patients, potentially decreasing cumulative radiation exposure during follow-up.
