Effect of trisomy 21 on long-term gastrointestinal outcomes in duodenal atresia

Published: Reading: 1 min

Topic overview

This retrospective cohort study of 52 children with duodenal atresia found that those with Trisomy 21 experienced significantly more esophageal and gastric complaints than those without, though obstructive and ulcerative disease rates were similar. The findings suggest T21 status should inform long-term gastrointestinal surveillance strategies after DA repair.
