Sharp-pointed foreign body ingestion in pediatric age

This study of 580 children who ingested sharp or pointed objects found that 86% passed the foreign body spontaneously without complications, while 14% required endoscopic removal. No cases of intestinal perforation occurred, though 5% of endoscopic retrievals were technically challenging due to object shape and size.
