The effect of hepatocyte growth factor on intestinal adaption in an experimental model of short bowel syndrome

This rat model study demonstrates that hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) significantly enhances intestinal adaptation in short bowel syndrome by increasing villus height, crypt depth, and enterocyte proliferation. HGF treatment upregulated key genes in adaptation pathways, suggesting potential to reduce parenteral nutrition dependence in SBS patients.
