The role of the resistive index in predicting testicular atrophy after orchiopexy in unilateral undescended testis

Retrospective study of 215 pediatric orchiopexy cases identifies preoperative resistive index ≥0.6, testicular volume ratio ≤0.5, high testicular location, and deferens-epididymal anomalies as independent predictors of postoperative testicular atrophy. Doppler ultrasound measurement of resistive index may help surgeons predict atrophy risk before surgery.
