The peripheral portacath provides safe and convenient venous access in pediatric and adolescent patients

Retrospective review of 28 peripheral portacath insertions in adolescent patients (ages 12-18) demonstrates safety and feasibility with low complication rates. Six insertions performed under local anesthetic in high-risk patients, with median device duration of 8 months and high satisfaction from patients and nursing staff.
