Perioperative outcomes of laparoscopically assisted anorectoplasty versus conventional procedures for anorectal malformation: a retrospective nationwide database study

Retrospective analysis of 1,005 Japanese patients comparing laparoscopically assisted anorectoplasty (LAARP) to conventional open procedures for high- and intermediate-type anorectal malformations. LAARP showed significantly higher rectal prolapse rates (21.4% vs 8.5%) and longer operative times, suggesting the technique requires refinement despite its minimally invasive approach.
