Long-term study comparing social outcomes in patients with anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung's disease shows that severe cases face persistent social restrictions from bowel dysfunction despite surgical treatment. Quality of life in adulthood appears more influenced by childhood psychological adaptation than current functional status, suggesting early psychosocial intervention may improve outcomes.
