Venous malformations: what do phleboliths tell us in the pediatric population?

Retrospective study of 88 pediatric patients found that phleboliths within venous malformations significantly predict need for surgical intervention, though no independent risk factors for phlebolith formation were identified. Findings suggest phlebolith presence may warrant lower threshold for surgical management in this population.
