Continence management in children with severe caudal regression syndrome: role of multidisciplinary team and long-term follow-up
Topic overview
Retrospective study of six children with severe caudal regression syndrome managed over 25 years demonstrates that early clean intermittent catheterization, pharmacologic management, and surgical interventions can achieve continence, though adherence challenges emerge at puberty and long-term renal complications remain significant. Multidisciplinary team approach is essential given the complex orthopedic, urological, gastrointestinal and psychosocial needs of these patients.
