Fertility in males after childhood, adolescent, and adult inguinal operations
Topic overview
This prospective study of 333 men evaluated long-term fertility outcomes after childhood inguinal surgery, finding that hernia repair and varicocele ligation do not impair sperm quality. However, orchidopexy, chronic medication use, and smoking were significantly associated with abnormal spermiogram parameters in adulthood.
