Systematic review and meta-analysis comparing perioperative outcomes of pediatric emergency appendicectomy performed by trainee vs trained surgeon

Meta-analysis of 10,019 pediatric appendectomy cases demonstrates that trainee surgeons achieve equivalent perioperative outcomes to trained surgeons across all measured complications, operation times, and reoperation rates. Trainees actually showed lower conversion rates to open surgery, supporting the safety of appendectomy as a training procedure without compromising patient care.
