Nationwide outcomes of incidental appendectomy during cholecystectomy versus cholecystectomy alone in children: a propensity score-matched analysis

Nationwide analysis of 34,390 pediatric cholecystectomy cases found that performing incidental appendectomy during the procedure was safe and cost-effective, with no increase in complications or readmissions compared to cholecystectomy alone. Propensity-matched data suggests incidental appendectomy may reduce overall readmission costs without added surgical risk.
