Transfusion Ratios and Deficits in Injured Children With Life-Threatening Bleeding

Multi-center study of 191 injured children with life-threatening bleeding found that high plasma:RBC ratios (>1:2) improved 6-hour survival, while greater plasma and platelet deficits increased mortality. Findings suggest balanced resuscitation targeting specific transfusion ratios may optimize outcomes in pediatric hemorrhagic shock.
