Racial/Ethnic Differences in Receipt of Surgery Among Children in the United States

This national study of 219,098 children reveals significant racial/ethnic disparities in surgical access, with African-American, Asian, and Latino children having 38-61% lower odds of receiving surgery compared to White children. Latino children were 71% more likely to require emergent/urgent surgery, suggesting delayed access to elective care.
