Topic overview

We read the article by Koehler, at al, titled Meconium-stained amniotic fluid as a predictor of poor outcomes[1] published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery. The authors did a retrospective study enrolling 171 patients with gastroschisis from their data base between the years of 2000-2014. They mainly studied the effects of meconium stained amniotic fluid (MSAF) on these patients. Sixty-four patients of 135 (47.4%) that they included have MSAF. They studied the outcomes of patients with gastroschisis in terms of MSAF and no MSAF.
