Elective choledochal cyst excision is associated with improved postoperative outcomes in children

Retrospective study of 59 pediatric patients found that electively scheduled choledochal cyst excision resulted in shorter hospital stays and reduced opioid use compared to urgent same-admission surgery. Elective timing and Todani type 1 cysts were independently associated with improved postoperative outcomes, supporting planned surgical intervention when feasible.
