Rat model study demonstrates recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor significantly reduces hepatic steatosis and inflammation in short bowel syndrome requiring total parenteral nutrition. Findings suggest HGF may prevent intestinal failure-associated liver disease, a life-threatening TPN complication.
