Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) for Pediatric Achalasia: Institutional Experience and Outcomes

Retrospective analysis of 37 POEM procedures in pediatric achalasia patients (ages 2-18) demonstrates high technical success with 43% intraoperative complications managed without reoperation and 16% reintervention rate at median 15-month follow-up. Post-operative Eckardt scores improved significantly, supporting POEM as effective first-line or revisional therapy for pediatric achalasia.
