Association of Operative Volume and Odds of Surgical Complication for Patients Undergoing Repair of Pectus Excavatum at Children's Hospitals

Multi-center study of 7,183 pectus excavatum repairs demonstrates that higher hospital and surgeon case volumes are associated with significantly reduced surgical complications. Patients treated at highest-volume hospitals (>26 cases/year) had 59% lower odds of complications compared to lowest-volume centers, with similar trends for high-volume surgeons.
