AI-based object detection and classification models achieved 100% sensitivity and specificity for detecting esophageal foreign bodies on radiographs, with 100% accuracy identifying button batteries and 97.9% accuracy for coins in pediatric patients. This technology could enable automated triage of radiographs to prioritize urgent button battery cases requiring immediate intervention.
