Comparing quality of life improvement after antegrade continence enema (ACE) therapy for patients with organic and functional constipation / encopresis

Cross-sectional study of 22 pediatric patients demonstrates significant improvement in stool-related and overall quality of life three months after cecostomy tube insertion for refractory chronic constipation or fecal incontinence. Both organic (spina bifida, anorectal malformation, Hirschsprung) and functional diagnosis groups showed comparable QoL gains following ACE therapy.
